The Life and Water Development Group (LWDG) is a Non-profit NGO based
in Cameroon Africa. We need volunteers help in all fields of work.
You can do voluntary work for a couple of months, for example after
your examinations or university study, but it is also possible to
spend a holiday with a local family.
The aim of LWDG volunteer is to introduce Western people to the local
culture of the Cameroonian people and involve them as much as possible
in the daily life of the local population. Our programmes are designed
to give participants a rewarding and wide-ranging experience as
possible.
Participants will be part of a community with people of diverse
cultures.
Live with the people of a traditional village in Cameroon. You stay in
a special compound for volunteers in a village and experience African
daily life first hand. You can join the daily activities, like
fetching water, cooking, working on the farmlands and many more
Activities with children of the village, like drawing, playing
football or something else you have affinity with (bring your own
materials).
Stay with a Cameroonian family and join the daily activities
like; visit the market, visits to family, weddings or funerals.
Doing some excursions and visits with a local guide to very
attractive ecotouristic sites
Assisting on a day nursery, primary, junior or secondary
school in a village or in the city
Teaching young people how to work on a computer
Working on a school for disabled and blind persons
Working on a community for disabled and blind persons and
their children
Working on an institute for deaf children
Working in a children's home with HIV/AIDS.
Working in a medical clinic or maternity home (medical
background necessary)
Qualifications: Regardless of qualifications, people of all ages have
the opportunity to live and work with our local communities.
Languages: English or French
Salary / Pay: Our organization is a non profit charity and does not
pay volunteers. But volunteers who are willing to volunteer and can
not afford it will be provided with free accommodation and feeding -
though they will have to pay for their own flight, vaccines and visa
requirements.
