Cameroon Association For The protection And Education of The children (Capecam) is seeking volunteers who wish to teach in rural Cameroonian communities. A variety of different options are available, to which volunteers could contribute.Capecam is Non governmental organisattion aim at helping the needy (deatitutes) some of which include, Ophans who lost their parents and have no means to substain a living,and above all going to school.
we also help to give free education (scorlaship) to young cameroonians who are very intelligent but have not yet the means to go to school.
Capecam SCHOOL PROGRAMME. At present, existing rural schools are understaffed; one government-recruited head teacher has responsibility for a school with some 300 students, and in Nursery school, 3 teachers currently work with one hundred young children. Volunteers are needed to work in schools, with children up to the age of 13, providing additional teaching support in a range of subjects (Mathematics, French, English, Environmental Education, Hygiene and Sciences). Volunteers could teach in the school for varying lengths of time, between 1 month and 1 year.
TEACHING ORPHANS AND UNDER PRIVILEGED CHILDREN. This programme aims to assist children who cannot cope well under normal classroom conditions. Volunteer Teachers would work with these children to provide them with additional support. This programme also caters for children of mixed ages, but they will be taught together, in a dedicated classroom environment more suitable for their particular needs.
AFTER SCHOOL. Volunteers are needed to provide after-school tuition to children of all ages, in a variety of subjects (Mathematics, French, English, Environmental Education, Hygiene and Sciences).
TEACHING MATERIALS. Capecam requires donations of a number of basic materials to assist with Volunteer Teacher programmes. Items include books, pens, pencils, paper, chalk, educational toys and games, and pictures for nursery school children.
Volunteers will be provided with free accomodation, feeding and clothing during thier stay in Cameroon.But it should be noted that they will not be paid any salary but could be given incentives.
