REPORTING TO       Technical Accounting Manager - Northern Europe

DEPARTMENT          Technical Accounting

LOCALIZATION            Barcelona, SPAIN

PURPOSE                To provide a financial accounting  service  for our Dutch entities, covering Dutch

                                 Accounting rules, US GAAP, balance sheet controls and direct and indirect taxes.

LANGUAGES            Fluent in Dutch with a good business level of English.  A working knowledge of

                                 Spanish, French or German would be beneficial, but is not essential

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE TEAM

  * Maintain financial accounting records for the Dutch entities according to both US GAAP and Dutch accounting

  principles.  This includes preparation of monthly US GAAP income statement and balance sheet and the individual

  companies’ and consolidated group accounts for the Dutch entities according to Dutch accounting rules and

  compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley 404.

  * Liaise with management accountants, payables, fixed asset accountants, receivables, Treasury and inter-

  company accountants to ensure that records are maintained in accordance with Dutch accounting rules and with

  US GAAP.

  * Provide information and explanations required to the external auditors for their annual US GAAP and statutory

  audits.

  * Ensure that all balance sheet accounts are reconciled, to maintain the integrity of the balance sheets according to

   US GAAP and to Dutch accounting rules.

  * Support the European Tax Department in ensuring compliance of the Dutch entities with all direct and indirect

  taxes, particularly income tax and VAT.  This will involve working with both internal and external tax advisors and

  tax auditors. 

  * Provide financial information to Dutch Management and Directors of Dutch entities, European Financial

  Management, Law Group, European and US Tax Group, US Technical Accounting, Internal Audit and Dutch Works

  Council.

  * Review the work of part qualified accounting technicians who provide inout to the accounts of the Dutch entities.

  * Identify opportunities for productivity and continuous improvement and implement initiatives to improve quality,

  reduce cycle time and cost.

  EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  * Finance Related university degree level of education.

  * Part Qualified accountant, or Dutch equivalent, with 2-3 years post qualification experience, either in an accounting

  firm or in industry in the Netherlands. 

  * Experience of preparation of accounts according to Dutch accounting rules, income tax, VAT and other indirect

  taxes is essential.

  * Experience of working in a US owned multinational is useful as is some experience of US GAAP and the main

  differences between US and Dutch GAAP.

  * Experience of preparing accounts under IFRS is useful, but not essential

  * Experience of accounting using SAP would be an advantage

  * Experience of working in a team with other part qualified and qualified accountants

  * Communicating with and influencing individuals in a large multi-disciplined environment
